“The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is the apex body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, with the mandate to ensure food safety and regulate the food industry.

Established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, FSSAI is tasked with setting rigorous standards for food production, distribution, and consumption. Its mission is to protect public health by ensuring that food products meet the highest safety and hygiene standards.
FSSAI also undertakes various initiatives to raise awareness about food safety and hygiene among consumers and businesses alike, fostering a culture of safety from farm to fork. In addition, it collaborates with educational institutions to promote research, innovation, and capacity-building in food safety standards. By ensuring the highest levels of food safety, FSSAI contributes significantly to the well-being of the nation and aligns with global best practices in food regulation.
