The Post Graduate Department of Animation and Graphic Design at Rajagiri College of Management and Applied Sciences is a vibrant centre of creativity, innovation and professional excellence dedicated to developing skilled visual communicators, designers and digital content creators. The department offers a diverse portfolio of programmes including BA Animation and Graphic Design, BA Animation and Visual Effects, MA Graphic Design and MA Animation. These programmes are carefully designed in alignment with contemporary industry requirements, emerging technologies and interdisciplinary learning approaches, enabling students to acquire strong artistic foundations, technical expertise and critical thinking abilities.

The curriculum integrates design principles, animation techniques, visual storytelling, digital media production, user-centred design, motion graphics, visual effects and emerging creative technologies. Through a balanced combination of theory, practical training, project-based learning and industry interaction, students gain the competencies required to excel in the dynamic fields of animation, graphic design, visual effects, digital media and creative communication.

To support experiential learning, the department provides state-of-the-art infrastructure including a 3D Animation Lab, 2D Animation Lab, Visual Effects and Compositing Lab, Stop Motion Animation Lab, Photography and Digital Imaging Studio and dedicated design workstations equipped with industry-standard software. These facilities enable students to engage in hands-on learning, experimentation and collaborative creative production while working on real-world projects and portfolios.

The department actively promotes industry-academia collaboration through internships, placement drives, workshops, masterclasses, value-added courses and partnerships with leading organizations from the AVGC-XR (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality) sector. Students are encouraged to participate in exhibitions, competitions, research activities and creative projects that enhance their professional readiness and entrepreneurial capabilities.

• INIZIA
The Department of Animation and Graphic Design organises a vibrant Freshers’ Day event, “INIZIA. The event, coordinated by RAGA, aimed to create a sense of community and facilitate connections between students and faculty. The day featured various interactive activities designed to help students socialize and build networks. Engaging games, group activities, and team-building exercises encouraged participation and created a friendly atmosphere. The event also showcased cultural performances, where students displayed their talents in music, dance, and drama, adding energy and excitement to the celebration and highlighting the diverse skills within the department.
• KERALA IS OUR HIGH
The department launched a campaign to raise awareness against drug abuse, employing the theme “KERALA IS OUR HIGH.” This initiative was carried out in collaboration with Popkon Creatives, an advertising agency located in Kochi. Through this partnership, the wall painting campaign aimed to creatively convey the message about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a drug-free lifestyle among the community. Popkon Creatives provided expertise in developing compelling communication materials and strategies to effectively reach the target audience.

Des. Talk is an insightful lecture series organised by the Department of Animation and Graphic Design, specifically designed for students to delve deeper into the world of communication design and relevant areas. This series aims to provide a platform where students can explore various aspects of design through engaging talks led by industry experts, faculty members and accomplished artists.
• AniMaze “An Art Jam”
AniMaze is an exciting animation and graphic design festival organized by the Department of Animation and Graphic Design. In this festival, creativity, innovation and technical expertise come together to celebrate the art of animation and visual design. Among the festival many events are workshops, screenings, exhibitions, and competitions that showcase the talents of students and Industrial professionals. The event also offers various hands-on workshops led by industry experts, screenings of animated films, exhibitions highlighting cutting-edge work, and exhibitions of animated films and design projects.
