South and Southeast Asia is home to the swallowtail butterfly known as the common mime. The butterfly is a member of the black-bodied swallowtail subgenus, Chilasa. Among Indian butterflies, it is a prominent example of a Batesian mimic. Since it is frequently linked to plants in the Lauraceae family, it is possible that this plant serves as a food source for their caterpillars.
