The Master of Commerce programme is designed to provide advanced learning in commerce, finance, taxation, business and management. The programme enables students to understand contemporary developments in business, industry and the global economic environment, while developing the analytical and managerial competencies required for professional careers and higher academic pursuits.
The programme is offered over two years, spread across four semesters. Each semester shall have a duration of 90 academic days.
Candidates who have passed B.Com, BBA or BBM approved by Mahatma Gandhi University with a minimum of 45% marks are eligible for admission.
The Bachelor of Commerce Honours programme is structured under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme framework. The programme is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation in commerce, accounting, finance, taxation, logistics, marketing and financial markets. It prepares students to understand contemporary business practices, develop professional competence and pursue careers in corporate organisations, financial institutions, logistics firms, accounting and taxation services, entrepreneurship and higher education.
Admission to the B.Com Honours Degree Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the Plus Two or equivalent examination recognised by Mahatma Gandhi University with Book-Keeping and Accountancy and any two of the following subjects:
(1) Commerce (2) Commercial Correspondence and Commercial Geography (3) Economics (4) Life Insurance with Salesmanship (5) Banking with Secretarial Practice (6) Business Studies (7) Mathematics (8) Computer Science/Computer applications (9) Informatics Practice & Management, (10) Informatics Practice, (11) Management, (12) Accountancy as optional under Part III of the examination.
Candidates who have passed the Plus Two or equivalent examination recognised by the University with other optional subjects under Part III are also eligible, provided they have secured a minimum of 45% aggregate marks.
The B.Com Honours programme is offered under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme framework. Students may take academic breaks during the programme and resume their studies, provided the total period of completion does not exceed seven years.
Students who wish to complete the programme at a faster pace may do so by earning the required credits and fulfilling all programme requirements within N-1 semesters, where N represents the prescribed number of semesters in the FYUGP.
The programme may also be completed at a slower pace as permitted under the FYUGP framework. A three-year or six-semester programme may be completed within four to five years or eight to ten semesters, while a four-year or eight-semester programme may be completed within five to six years or ten to twelve semesters, without obtaining readmission.
For students who continue beyond six semesters at a slower pace, the requirement to earn 16 credits per semester at the enrolled institution may be relaxed, subject to University regulations.
